Wil Timpe 1920 -

Wil Timpe's love of horses and the old west shows itself in his spectacularly painted western scenes. Although Wil was born in New Jersey, he always loved animals and developed a life long love of horses. This love was developed by many visits to stables and many hours of horseback riding.

He studied painting at the Jepson Art Institute, Art Center College, Kahn Institute and Choinard Art.

For most of his career he was a professional illustrator working on advertisements for various magazines. He also did covers and editorials for "Coinage", "Westerner" and "Ladies Home Journal", etc.

It was after his retirement that he devoted most of his time to painting horses and western scenes, exhibiting at the Southern California Expo, Del Mar and the Great Western Exposition. In recent years, these paintings have become popular with collectors of western art.

Wil Timpe is represented by Goldfield Galleries, Ltd., Los Angeles, California, which specializes in western paintings, turn of the century American Impressionism, Ash-Can, and California Plein-Air.
